His story
The man from Odessa
Alex Sirochinsky was born on May 13, 1958, in Odessa, Ukraine — a city of humor, sea air, and people who know how to live. He grew up there, went to school 107, and carried Odessa with him wherever he went.
He built his career at Rexam, and built his life in Chicago — but he never lost the Odessa in him: the love of a good table, good company, and the sea. Hand him and Irina striped sailor shirts, and they wear them like the Odessa natives they are.
He shares his life with his wife, Irina — and here's the part that says everything about them: he has known her since she was 13. Some love stories take a lifetime. Theirs started before either of them knew what it was. He still spoils her — most recently with a brand-new Lexus.
Ask anyone what Alex is like and the same picture comes back: a man who loves deeply and laughs easily. Give him a fishing rod and the sea in front of him, and he's happy. Give him a table full of oysters and crab legs, and he's happier. Hand him a sombrero at a restaurant, and he'll put it on and pose like he was born for it. He wears a t-shirt that says "Doctor said I need glasses" — usually with a beer in each hand.
Today he's a father, a grandfather, an uncle — the man at the center of the table, the one holding the fishing rod, the one in the "Husband's chair" waiting patiently while Irina shops. This site is his family's way of saying: this man matters, and his story isn't finished.
